Even for non-pilgrims, Finisterre (Fisterra) is a party town. It’s the closest Spain has to a spring break location in the North-West, with many hipster and Goa-hippie stores, bars, restaurants, and nightly beach bonfires attended by beach bums and pilgrims alike.
Mythology has it, that stripping off your clothes, burning one personal effect, and going for a swim will “reset” your life and guarantee riches and happiness. That’s why “don’t burn shit here” and “don’t swim here” signs litter the beaches.
You can buy a special 0,0 km stamp at the Cape, which is the “official” end of the journey from Santiago de Compostela. If you want to spend a buck, it’s a nice stamp.
